Welcome to the website of Scunthorpe and District Samaritans

At Samaritans, we think life's worth talking about

We are based at 2 Lindum Street, Scunthorpe, and are one of over 200 branches of Samaritans in the UK and Republic of Ireland. We are here to offer confidential emotional support to people experiencing feelings of distress and despair, including feelings which may lead to suicide.

We don’t judge, criticise or tell people what to do, nor do we claim to have answers to all of life’s problems (so we cannot advise) , but we will offer time and space to people who want to talk about their feelings in detail.  Samaritans help people to explore other options or possibilities, so they can try to move forward on their own terms.  If you contact us, you do not have to give your name, we cannot trace calls and nobody outside of Samaritans will ever know you have been in touch.

Would you consider leaving a legacy to Scunthorpe Samaritans?  Remember us in your will

Every branch of Samaritans is a self-funding registered charity and we rely on public donations to 'be there' day and night.

The Scunthorpe branch must raise twenty thousand pounds each year to meet our operating costs, so we welcome all donations towards our work, regardless of amount.

We understand that some people would rather offer a gift instead of cash, so we have created a wish list on the Amazon website.  Click on the link:

Most of the items, particularly consumables (tea, coffee, cleaning products etc.) can be purchased elsewhere.  We created the wish list to simply help people understand what items we require.

If you do most of your shopping online, please check out Scunthorpe Samaritans affiliated web shop.  We have teamed up with hundreds of well known retailers to bring you the very best products and more.

If you buy through our online shop you will not pay a penny more than shopping directly with the retailer, but we will earn valuable commission on your purchase which will help us to support more people in emotional distress.
